Situated on the banks of the beautiful Umzimkhulu river, we are a local family-run, family-friendly seafood restaurant with a passion to serve the freshest, highest-quality seafood available, simply prepared and served up at an honest price.

We we are known in particular for our exquisitely tender calamari, delicious secret batter and tasty sauces but we have something on the menu to suit all appetites and taste-buds, including some new limited vegan/vegetarian options and our mouth-watering wood-fired pizzas!

In 2004, our founder - a sport fisherman, seafood processor/trader and culinary enthusiast opened Fish On The River in Port Shepstone. What he had in mind later became our Fish On The River ethos: fresh high-quality seafood, simple preparation and honest prices.
Since then, as of March 2020, the restaurant has recently changed ownership to another local family with collective experience in the fishing and seafood industry who are committed to keeping the essence of the restaurant unchanged and providing patrons with the same high-quality, no-fuss seafood and service.
